This year our annual Japan Culture Day was successfully celebrated on June 21st, where many curious visitors - about 400 in total - came to our event here at our Center in Vedbæk. It was a lovely sunny day where all fans of Japanese Culture would gather, both children, young and elderly to celebrate this tradition of an annual Festival here at our facilities. People were able to explore and experience various facets of what Japanese Culture has to offer, ranging from beautiful martial arts performances of Kyudo, Kendo and Karate, to the elegance of Bonsai trees, Ikebana and Japanese traditional dance, and then also to fun Quizzes about Japan, Pokémon games, and creative workshops where one could try Manga, Japanese writing, Origami and more. A lot of wonderful vendors also contributed to our event selling various goods, such as Kimono, handcrafted Japanese artwork and accessories, tableware and other merchandise. For those who were thirsty and hungry, we were also able to offer four beverage and food pop-up shops - each introducing their own unique and delicious way of representing Japan. These shops consisted of IO selling iced matcha latte and iced hojicha latte, Banzai selling onigiri and kakigori, Mochi Time selling ichigo daifuku and imagawayaki, and Kenjiro Kitchen selling matcha bavarian cream desserts. It was also possible for guests to hear more about our own Tokai Alumni Association and its activities, as well as learn about Dansk-Japansk Selskab - one of our great collaborators - and what cultural events they arrange. All in all, it was a very festive event with many happy faces, and we are extremely grateful for all of those who attended. We would also like to give a special thanks to all of our volunteers and contributors, without whom this event would not have been possible. We look forward to yet another Japan Culture Day next year.
