On Thursday, December 17, TUEC and Denmark-Japan Society hosted a lecture on Japanese Politics. Associate Professor Raymond Yamamoto from Aarhus University was invited to speak on the topic. For his presentation, Professor Yamamoto will evaluate the success of the Abe administration in dealing with difficult political issues, and provide insights into the challenges that Prime Minister Suga has inherited from the previous administration. The event was held online and had a large number of participants from academic and business circles.

On Monday, December 14, Tokai and VIA University College collaborated on a online webinar on QOL and elderly care. This seminar was the fourth addition to the Quality of Life seminar series held to commemorate Tokai University European Center 50 year anniversary.
The focus of this event was elderly care in Japan and Denmark. Two guests were invited as presenters from Japan and Denmark. Professor Masaaki Abe from Tokai University looked at the characteristics of care rooted in Japanese culture, and placed the attitude of care workers in a cultural context. Senior Associate Professor Rikke Gregersen from VIA University presented the traditional, and evolving, Danish elderly care and the ways it supports elderly to maintain a daily life with structure, content, and quality of life. Energy Transitions: Decarbonization of Energy Systems for Sustainable Society: Improving QoL On December 10, Tokai University hosted an energy seminar in collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark. The seminar focused on the decarbonization of energy systems and on energy transitions. The seminar had speakers from both academic and business sectors in Denmark and Japan, and also featured a keynote presention by Mr. Toshiya Kakuta from Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd.
